Dear You,
Yes, you. Reading this. I’m talking to you. I want to say thank you.
I have no way of knowing who you are, but I can promise you your
impact has not gone unnoticed. Even if you are a friend of a friend of a
step-family member of my cousin who found this blog by some twist of fate,
thank you. You are reading this blog and supporting my passion of writing. You
are listening to my words and you are telling me, through page views, that you
care what I say. That the world cares about me and cares about what I say to
the world around me.
As I face the facts, I know probably can’t make a full-time living off
travel blogging. My life will be filled with wonder and adventure and amazing
things, even if those amazing things are just reading a really good book. Or discovering
a hole in the wall sushi place on the ride home from Michael’s craft store
(side note to my Marin folks: It’s called Yu Shang, and it’s delicious. Get the
Veggie Tempura roll and thank me later. It’s no Japan travel excursion, but it’s
very yummy.)
But these moments, when I get to sit and reflect and stare at the edge
of the water (queue Moana lyrics stuck in your head now), I want to be here,
now. I am grateful for every moment I am here, and I am grateful to you for
supporting me as I express my feelings, and/or in my journey to this moment.
This moment will never happen again. This moment is precious. This
moment, wherever you are, I want you to say, “thank you” to the universe.
Go ahead— I’ll wait. Whisper it if you’re so embarrassed. Say it. SAY
IT.
Thank you.
Because the more grateful you are, the more of that good you will
bring into your life.
I will end this post how I began it: by saying, thank you to YOU. You
have an impact in my life, either in getting me to where I am today or by
supporting me as I attempt to tackle my dreams. Right now, I am here. Thank
you.
With love from the ocean (heading to Incheon, Korea),
Rivi
